John Hernandez

Founding Attorney

John Hernandez founded Hernandez Injury Lawyers with a mission to provide aggressive and compassionate representation for individuals injured throughout California. With decades of experience in workers’ compensation and personal injury law, he has dedicated his career to helping injured workers and accident victims secure the compensation and justice they deserve.

Before founding the firm, John served as a Workers’ Compensation Administrative Law Judge at the Los Angeles District Office. In that role, he presided over complex workers’ compensation cases and gained firsthand insight into how claims are evaluated and decided within the California workers’ compensation system. This unique judicial experience allows him to approach every case with a strategic advantage when advocating for his clients.

John is also a bilingual advocate, proudly providing legal services in both English and Spanish to ensure clear communication and accessibility for the diverse communities the firm serves. His commitment to client advocacy, integrity, and community leadership continues to shape the standard of excellence at Hernandez Injury Lawyers.

Lisa Porambo

Lisa Porambo is a senior attorney at Hernandez Injury Lawyers with more than 20 years of legal experience in workers’ compensation law. Before joining the firm, Lisa built her career representing employers and insurance carriers as a defense attorney, giving her extensive insight into how insurance companies evaluate, defend, and resolve workers’ compensation claims. This background provides a strategic advantage when advocating for injured workers.

At Hernandez Injury Lawyers, Lisa plays a critical leadership role in the firm’s workers’ compensation intake and case evaluation process. She manages the firm’s workers’ compensation client intake team and carefully reviews potential cases to determine whether they meet the firm’s high standards for representation. Her experience allows the firm to identify strong cases and develop effective strategies from the very beginning of the attorney-client relationship.

Lisa is known for her deep knowledge of the workers’ compensation system, her attention to detail, and her commitment to ensuring that every client receives thoughtful and strategic representation.

Douglas Owenby

Attorney at Law

Douglas Owenby is a seasoned attorney who focuses primarily on workers’ compensation law, dedicating the majority of his practice to representing injured workers throughout California. With decades of legal experience, he brings strategic insight, disciplined advocacy, and a client-focused approach to every case he handles. In addition to his workers’ compensation practice, Douglas also assists clients in select personal injury matters when appropriate.

Douglas was admitted to the bar in 1980 and has been part of Hernandez Injury Lawyers since the firm’s founding in 2017. His extensive legal background allows him to approach each case with thoughtful strategy and careful legal analysis, ensuring that clients receive clear guidance and strong advocacy during challenging times.

Before entering the legal profession, Douglas served in the United States Army, where he was trained as a German language interrogator. His military service instilled the discipline, analytical thinking, and commitment to service that continue to guide his work as an attorney.

Outside the office, Douglas is an avid reader who values continuous learning and intellectual curiosity.
